At the start of this year I told myself that it was time for me to start experimenting more with clothes and to find my own personal style, however coronavirus took over the world and I have done nothing but wear my boyfriends joggers and hoodies because comfort is key in lockdown.
Fashion is something I have struggled with through my experience with eating disorders as I chose clothes to hide behind so my usual clothing items would be black, baggy and shapeless. I often dress to hide the parts of myself that I am insecure about. My boyfriend and mum get infuriated with me when out shopping as I will pick clothing items up and be like ohhh I really like this, put it in my basket and then that little voice in the back of my head creeps in and says put it back it won’t suit you, so my basket goes from 10 items to none as I walk out of the shop doors with nothing in my hands.
Confidence, if you have it you can make anything look good
Over the last few years I have worked really hard on trying to build my confidence and self esteem and although I am no where near where I hope to be, I am much more confident than I once was and would like to push myself out of my comfort zone and start wearing clothes that I actually like rather than just wearing clothes that I feel hide my insecurities.
My favourite seasons are approaching and this time of the year is when all the clothing items I love come into stores. I love all things jumpers, boots and wooly hat related and would like to add some new key pieces to my autumn/winter wardrobe. Recently I have been attempting to save more money as we are saving up to hopefully visit Australia again and we are trying to keep money aside for our house plans and due to this I have decided I am going to try to recreate my outfit inspiration pictures by shopping in charity shops and on Ebay, Vinted and Depop. I find shopping in these ways a lot easier if you know exactly what items you are looking for which is why the outfit inspo pictures can come in handy. If I manage to find the items to recreate these outfits I may do a follow up post with recreation images and prices of everything I found and where I found them from.
Before I start talking about the outfits themselves I would like to give credit to the girls in the images incase you would like to go and follow them. The top photo collage shows Ellie Darby, Lorna Luxe, Kate Hutchins and the other images were ones I found on Pinterest. The bottom collage shows Gemma Louise Miles, Lorna Luxe again and the other photos I found on Pinterest.
As you can see from the photos the colour scheme for my inspiration is cream, brown, light blues and greys. In the autumn I really like leather look leggings but only the ones that aren’t very shiny and have a more matte look to them. I really need a new coat as the one I wear at the moment I have had for four years and it isn’t in the best condition haha. I really like the look of aviator jackets at the moment and have found a lovely one from Asos. I would also like a new camel coloured long tailored coat as I always think they make an outfit look more dressy. Im also loving jumpers with jeans and jumper dresses with long boots so will be searching for more of those.
